LLUMC information for families and visitors

Information for families and visitors

Waiting rooms

Family and friends of hospital patients are asked to wait during surgery or other procedures in the waiting room on the lobby level just past the main entrance. Family members should report to the surgery host or hostess seated at a desk in the waiting area. The surgeon will try to reach the family once the surgery is complete. We ask that families and friends remain in one area so the physician will know where to reach the family if the need arises. Thus, please report to the host or hostess in the waiting area if you plan to leave temporarily.

There are additional waiting rooms just off the elevator on each floor for family members and other visitors. These rooms are open each day from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. No food, drink, or bedding supplies (e.g., pillows, blankets) are allowed in the waiting rooms.

Visiting hours and privileges

Visiting hours and privileges vary with each unit and depend on an individual patient's condition. Contact the unit secretary or the patient information desk for information about visiting a specific patient.

Sleeping arrangements for family members

Family members and friends of Medical Center patients should plan to use motel/hotel accommodations available in the area. See information about the nearby Loma Linda Inn. (Please note: this opens in a new browser window)

The Medical Center may allow immediate family members to use the Medical Center facility for sleeping in certain specific conditions. Contact a member of the Medical Center nursing staff if you would like more information about requesting a sleeping permit.
