Philosophy of Care:

Caring for the whole person... I value the relationship I have with my patients and respect the challenges they face. My goal is to support my patients by giving them the very best care along with my heartfelt encouragement and prayers. I enthusiastically work toward the research and development of newer, better orthopaedic procedures in order to help improve the world of my patients as well as the world of joint replacement surgery.

Clinical Interest:

Creating New Solutions... I had the privilege of introducing the first robotic computer aligned total knee replacement system in the United States in 2002. Soon after, I worked with Plus Orthopaedics of Switzerland to create the first U.S. training center for this breakthrough technology, which was originally developed by Austrian Orthopaedic Society President Dr. Peter Ritschl. Dr. Ritschl and I also worked with an excellent engineering team to design the state-of-the-art minimally invasive computer aligned total knee replacement system that is currently used worldwide. I am now working on developing further advancements in knee replacements on the Medacta International Advanced Design Team. We are developing a system that takes into account your unique ligaments, tendon alignment, gender and bone structure to optimize the surgery for you personally, which results in a more precise and sucessful joint replacement. I hold several patents in the field of orthopaedics through my design work with Medacta, Plus Orthopaedics and Smith & Nephew.

Before moving to Loma Linda, I practiced as an Orthopaedic surgeon for 24 years in Nampa, Idaho, where my wife and I raised four children. My hobbies include building, woodworking, playing guitar, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and constant learning. I continually give God thanks for my life, my family, and my patients.
