Loma Linda University Children's Hospital has launched Perinatal Connect, the first Telehealth program in California benefiting expectant mothers who live in the high and mid deserts that require specialized prenatal care. Using Cisco technology, patients and physicians at a partnering facility will have the ability to meet with our Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists from their local hospital. The innovative technology will allow our physician to not only communicate with the patient, but access to real-time ultrasound imaging during the appointment.
We have the only multidisciplinary, hospital-based Maternal-Fetal Medicine clinic, and are the only hospital offering full scope medical and surgical services for critical newborns in the four-county Inland Empire region. St. Mary's Medical Center in Apple Valley has been the first to partner with Perinatal Connect, but we are looking to expand to other sites in the near future.
What the Purpose is
The limited resources available to patients and providers in our region make it imperative that a streamlined, accessible network of perinatal services be available to the high desert and remote areas. Perinatal Connect will make it possible for women to receive a consult regarding the specialized care they need, without having to travel long distances. Our goal is to make it easy for all women to have access to extraordinary care for themselves and their babies.
How to Access this Service
If you are a distant site that would like to participate in this service please contact our MFM clinic.
