Pediatric Holistic Medicine

Hippocrates, a father of modern medicine, once said, "Everyone has a doctor in him or her; we just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well."

Wholistic physicians believe that the body has a natural ability to heal from the inside when given the right resources from the outside.  Wholistic medicine encourages us to look beyond the one part of the body that is diseased and to see a person as a whole that can be influenced by all its parts or organs as well as the mind and spirit (hence our unique spelling of the term holistic).  Wholistic physicians strive to help each person achieve a balanced mind, body, and spirit in order to allow healing to occur naturally.

Loma Linda University was founded on wholistic principles.  Ellen G. White, a driving force behind the founding of Loma Linda University, wrote in 1905, "Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness [avoiding things that are harmful], rest, exercise, proper diet, the use of water, [and] trust in divine power--these are the true remedies....Those who persevere in obedience to her laws will reap the reward in health of body and health of mind." This wholistic way of living may be the reason why Loma Linda is the United States' only "Blue Zone" where more people live surprisingly longer lives than the general population. Loma Linda is also one of only four known "Blue Zones" in the entire world.

Loma Linda University's Pediatric Wholistic Medicine Clinic brings advanced, science-based forms of wholistic medicine to the Inland Empire and surrounding areas in harmony with Loma Linda University's origin and motto "To Make Man Whole."
