Loma Linda University Children's Hospital - Pediatric Residency Program

Philosophy and goals

LLU Children's HospitalWe are pleased you are considering the Pediatric Residency Training Program at Loma Linda University.  Our various and modern facilities, large size, and diverse patient population will offer you experiences essential to your development as a competent and confident pediatrician.

Our faculty have two major objectives: to deliver exceptional patient care and to provide residents and students with quality education.  Our dynamic department is composed ofapproximately 125 full-time members, allowing excellent coverage of all major pediatric specialties.

During their years with us, each resident acquires more than the academic framework for the practice of pediatrics.  They work closely with our faculty, who encourage the development of clinical skills and knowledge as well as friendship and a realistic expectation of what practice in the various areas of pediatrics will involve. Graduates leave the program well prepared to begin practice in primary care pediatrics or continue in a subspecialty fellowship.

Loma Linda University's motto, "To make man whole," expresses our emphasis on the social and spiritual aspects of the patient and family as well as their physical needs.  Our department consists of faculty and residents with a wide diversity of beliefs and religious preferences who share a central commitment to provide excellent and compassionate patient care.  We feel a large measure of our department's success and continued growth relate to its atmosphere of mutual trust and friendship and a dedication to continually improve our service to children in our community and the world.

We are interested in applicants from all backgrounds who approach training with excitement, humor, and a dedication to excellence.  We are committed to providing superb training and a supportive atmosphere to each resident.  The pages that follow detail some of the features of our program. We hope that you will call or visit us soon.
