Chemical Dependency Services
Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center's chemical dependency services is an adult program providing the highest quality of care consistent with the guidelines of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). Chemical dependency services endorses the 12-step, self-help approach to recovery. The program offers the flexibility of several different levels of care including inpatient and a variety of outpatient treatment alternatives.
Professional staff members
Each member of the multidisciplinary team is a specialist in addiction and plays a special role in the program. All aspects of the patient's needs are addressed as well as those of family members affected by the addictive disorder. The multidisciplinary treatment team members include:
- Medical director certified by ASAM as an addiction medicine specialist
- Certified chemical dependency counselors
- Registered nurses
- Activity therapists
- Pastoral counselors
- Marriage and family therapist
Chemical dependency services
Chemical dependency services provides a flexible treatment system to restore the mind, body, and spirit. For many, entering treatment for chemical dependency can be an overwhelming experience. When medical detoxification is the first step of treatment, the support of trained and experienced staff in a hospital setting makes this step easier to take.
The program goal is to meet the needs of the individual and family confronted with the chronic and progressive disease of chemical dependency. The patient and their family members are involved in the treatment process. Program staff strive to provide the most effective and least costly method of treatment for each patient and their family.
Chronic pain treatment
A unique specialty offered by chemical dependency is the treatment of medication dependency in association with chronic pain. This service meets the physical and psychological needs of persons with chronic pain and is integrated into the overall chemical dependency treatment program.
